So I bought a cobb AP ver 1 this week for my 05 STi. I got all the maps and software on my laptop, got the AP ready to go, plugged in the AP to the car, hook up the green connectors, turn car off, turn car on.....please choose new map to flash......initilizing...........then..........another AP is already married to this ecu. WTF!?!?!?  huh So my question is what are my options? How do I reflash my ecu to stock so I can use the AP I bought? I don't even know what stage I'm at now, I thought it was stock......I really don't want to send my ECU to cobb for reflash as this is my daily driver. Is there another way?

Update: I called cobb and they said I need to find someone with a AP ver2 and have them unmarry it from there car. Then marry it to my car and set my car back to stock map, then unmarry the AP ver2. This will unlock my ecu and I will be able to marry the AP ver1 to my ecu. He said ver1 didn't have the ability to flash over previous AP but ver2 does.) Maybee this sould be in the help me section but does anyone wanna help a brotha out? I'd be willing to pay $40 for the help. If you are interested shoot me a PM.

Does anyone know if you can write over a AP map with the tactrix cable or other em and unlock the ecu that way?

You can only do it with the Cobb AP.

Man I saw this and about crapped my pants, I read it too fast and thought you said the AP was still married, not your ECU.  A potential  option, my tuner told me that if I wanted to return my car back to stock after the opensource tune, to have the dealer flash the latest version of firmware for the car onto the ecu and that should overwrite the tune he put on it.  Now, I don't know if that would work being that we are dealing with an AP vs opensource.  Just a thought that you could run by Cobb potentially.

Ha, yeah no worries. The AP you sold me was unmarried, it's my ecu thats not. Cobb said they would only charge $80 to unmarry my ecu but that means I have to take it out the car and mail it to them. That may be what I have to do so I'm trying to talk the wife into having us share her car. I went to the dealer where I got the car and he acted like I was speaking a foreign language and he was special needs. They did call the previous owner and leave a message on his phone but I don't know if that will pan out. My only other option is to trade the ver 1 on a ver 2 and then just do the reflash myself so I won't have to send out the ecu. I am also bumping up my offer of $40 to $80 for anyone with a ver2 AP who can help me out. Thnxs.
